Glen Haven Memorial Garden v. Hillcrest Project Funding, Inc., Surfside Lending, Inc.
We obtained judgment for 3.9 million, return of stock valued at 3.5 million, reconveyance of the fraudulently recorded deed of trust, and an additional default judgment of 4.3 million against three remaining defendants one of which was incarcerated during the pendency of the action in Michigan as a result of his participation in a larger cemetery fraud ring in a complicated stock and real estate fraud case.
Goldrich, Kest,
Snyder v. Kaplan Defense Verdict
We represented the defendant, a partner of real estate investors
Jona Goldrich, Sol Kest, and Jerome Snyder, who was sued by his
former business partners for breach of fiduciary duty and legal
malpractice. After a four week trial, a Van Nuys jury agreed with
our client, finding that he was not liable to his former partners
for the plaintiff's business losses and completely exonerated him.
Edgar Modeliers,
Inc. v. 1928 Jewelry Company ($1,539,456.64 judgment on arbitration award)
Obtained judgment on an arbitration award where defendant had been
found liable to plaintiff by three-person arbitration panel for
having breached various contracts.
Scherr v. Swiss Travel Service Defense
We represented a Costa Rican Travel Company which was accused by the plaintiffs of having negligently caused injuries in a bus roll-over accident. We brought a motion to the court to dismiss the case on the grounds that the web site our client maintained did not form the requisite "contacts" with California for a court here to maintain jurisdiction over our foreign client. The court agreed and dismissed the case.
